What makes HIKERS® Co. suspenders unique?
HIKERS® Co. suspenders are made to be worn with your shirt untucked, without any bulky hardware protruding through your shirt. They're made in your size and are adjustable much like a belt.
Our unique, proprietary hook attachments are designed to be comfortable and allow you to rest assured they won't come undone.
We offer a 100% iron-clad guarantee and free size exchanges.
What is the difference between the HIKERS® and Upfitter® styles?
HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders are made for folks who prefer to go untucked and are typically worn as a hidden undergarment. They attach to the front button on your pants or shorts and the center, rear belt loop.
Upfitter® Belt Loop Suspenders are made to be worn under or over your shirt and, rather than attach to your fly button, Upfitter® suspenders attach to your two front belt loops as well as one in the back.
All HIKERS® Co. suspenders are made to fit in your size and can be tightened like a belt by adjusting the hook on the rear strap.
How do I find my size?
How to Measure
For the perfect HIKERS® Co. fit, simply measure over your shoulder from your center rear belt loop to your button fly.
After you know your measurement, use our size chart to find your size. If you measure between sizes, order the larger size.
How Should They Fit?
Whether you're wearing our original button-fly or our newer Upfitter® belt-loop style, all HIKERS® Co. suspenders hold your pants in place with very slight tension distributed evenly over your shoulders. Keep in mind, it takes much less force to pull pants up than it does to cinch them on with a belt. You won't need to stretch them much more than a few inches to attach them to your pants.
When they fit just right, they should feel similar to wearing overalls.
Adjust for Comfort
HIKERS® Co. suspenders are adjustable much like a belt. That is, you start by purchasing the correct length, and tighten them up within a limited range to accommodate your daily needs, which might be affected by dinner last night or by how much you load up your pockets.
HIKERS® Co. suspenders are best fitted so that the largest adjustment is your starting size. Then you'll have two notches to tighten down from there.
What if I get the wrong size?
When you first get your suspenders, we encourage you to try them on and adjust the hook on the rear strap if you need to tighten them. We recommend starting on the loosest setting (which is the stated size). That way you'll have room to tighten up as needed for varied pant styles and weighted pockets, as well as when and if the elastic straps stretch a bit over time.
Size exchanges are free and easy within 30 days of your purchase. Simply log into your account using your order email and tap on the Request Return button. Or feel free to contact us and we'll walk you through the process.
If you immediately tighten your HIKERS® Co. suspenders down to the shortest setting, we recommend exchanging them for 2 sizes smaller than what you currently have. That's because each adjustment on the strap is equivalent to one HIKERS® size. For instance, if you order an XL pair, your HIKERS® will come adjusted to the stated size (XL), and the strap will have size adjustments for XL - Large - Medium.
Will they give me a wedgie?
Nope, wedgies don't happen when you order them in your size. It takes much less force to pull pants up than to cinch them on. Wedgies don’t happen with HIKERS® Co. suspenders for two reasons: 1. Your stomach stops them from inching up, and 2. all HIKERS® Co. suspenders come in your size and are adjustable, so the upward tug is Goldilocks perfect.
Are they comfortable?
Absolutely! How often do you loosen your belt or unbutton your pants? Are you eager to get home at night and change into something more comfortable? When you’re wearing HIKERS® Co. suspenders, your pants can be a little looser because tightness is no longer a factor in keeping them from slipping down. See for yourself: just read a few of our verified Customer Reviews and then try a pair for yourself.
Won't they tear my belt loops?
Nope, it doesn't happen. Considering their construction, the stretch of the straps, and the fact that the weight is distributed evenly around your body, it's not a likely issue. Given the average weight of your pants (even loaded with your phone, keys, and wallet), there's less than a pound of force on your belt loops (and there's two sewn seams keeping that loop on tight).
More importantly, we tested these for a full year before launching and have now sold hundreds of thousands of pairs. We can confidently say that belt loops aren't failing with HIKERS® Co. suspenders.
How do I go to the bathroom? Do I have to disrobe?
Heading to the john could not be easier. HIKERS® Co. suspenders stay in place under your shirt so there’s no need to disrobe. Simply unhook and go about your business. About as quick as a belt and much faster than traditional suspenders.
Standing to pee with HIKERS® Co. suspenders is easy. Most guys don't unfasten them. Just unbutton your pants and let HIKERS® hold up your pants while you do your business. When you need to sit, you can leave your shirt on and try a couple of different options:
- Unfasten the rear hook only. Your suspenders will slide forward as you sit down. When you stand up, reach up your back to pull the hook down and refasten. If the hook climbs up your back a little bit while you're sitting and becomes hard to reach, just grab the straps near your shoulders to slide them back into position so you can easily reach your hook.
- If you're wearing the original button-fly suspenders, simply unfasten them from your front button, and then unhook the back but, before releasing the hook, pull it down until the front triangular patch slides up toward your neck. After taking care of business, rehook the back first, and then reach up and pull down the front tab to refasten at your fly button. (Thanks to Mike H. for this recommendation!)
What materials are your suspenders made with?
HIKERS® Co. suspenders are made from polyester, latex silk, rubber, and nylon. The shoulder straps are elastic and the rear and buttonhole straps are made with a super-thin, ultra-tough, military-grade rubber known as Hypalon.
Can I wear HIKERS® with snaps, slide closures, or elastic waistbands?
If you have snaps or slide closures, try Upfitter® Belt Loop Suspenders instead of our original button fly style.
HIKERS® button fly suspenders require a front button on your pants or shorts and rear belt loops. Snap or slide closures won't work with HIKERS®.
We're still working on a solution for elastic waistbands. Stay tuned!
Do you make them for kids?
Sure do! Our youth sizes are perfect for kids who have trouble keeping their pants pulled up, just like the rest of us. Youʻll find youth sizing information on the product page.
Which HIKERS® Co. Suspenders Style is Right for You?
-
2-Point Button Fly Suspenders
Try HIKERS® Button Fly SuspendersIf you wear your shirts untucked and most of your pants have a button closure, our original 2-point button fly suspenders might be right for you. They attach to your button fly and rear belt loop, and theyʻre so comfy youʻll probably forget you have them on.
-
3-Point Belt Loop Suspenders
Try Upfitter® Belt Loop SuspendersWhen you need to tuck-in your shirts, our 3-point belt loop style is comfortable enough to wear hidden under an untucked shirt, or you can wear them on the outside like traditional suspenders. Plus, if you wear pants with slide or snap closures, these are for you.

Made in your Size - Adjust to Fit
Find your SizeAll styles are made to fit in your size and can be adjusted to fit by rethreading the rear hook. Every pair has 3 sizes on the strap. If you order a Large, for instance, the strap is adjusted to size Large when they arrive, but it may be tightened down to Medium or Small as well.

How should they fit and how do I adjust them?
When you first get your HIKERS® Co. suspenders, we recommend trying them on and adjusting the rear strap if you need to tighten them.
We recommend starting on the loosest setting (which is the stated size). That way you'll have room to tighten up as needed for varied pant styles and weighted pockets, as well as when and if the elastic straps stretch a bit over time.
If you immediately tighten them down to the shortest setting, we recommend exchanging them for 2 sizes smaller than what you currently have. That's because each adjustment on the strap is equivalent to one HIKERS® Co. size. In other words, if you order an XL pair, they will come adjusted to the stated size (XL), and the strap will have size adjustments for XL - Large - Medium.
To adjust, just rethread the rear hook to a tighter setting. If your HIKERS® Co. suspenders are too small, log into your account with your order email to start a size exchange.
- With the HIKERS® Co. logo facing you, thread the strap into the first slot from the top, under the first bar, and back up through the second slot.
- Pull it through and thread it back down into the final slot, seating the strap's size hole onto the center post. Give the strap a good tug.
- If you're using a second or third size hole, you can then thread the remainder of the strap up the back of the hook, under the top bar.
- With the HIKERS® Co. logo facing you, thread the strap into the first slot from the top, under the first bar, and back up through the second slot.

What's the trick to getting the hooks on and off?
The easiest way to quickly get the rear hook on and off is to pull your belt loop away from your body with your other hand. This creates a little tension on the loop, and the hook slides right off. Same goes for the front hooks with the belt-loop style. With a little practice, it becomes second nature.
What's the best way to put them on?
There are lots of ways to put them on. Here's our staff favorite.
For HIKERS® button fly suspenders:
- Throw your HIKERS® over your shoulders by grabbing each end with the logo facing up, and pulling them over your head.
- Test that the straps are lying flat by tugging back and forth.
- Secure the front on your pants front button first and then fasten your fly—that way your pants stay up for final assembly.
- Then reach around and secure the back side to your belt loop.
For Upfitter® belt loop suspenders:
- Grabbing the two front hooks in one hand and straighten the straps.
- Put your head in between and lay them flat against your shoulders. Test that the straps are lying flat by tugging back and forth.
- Secure the front two hooks to your front belt loops first —that way your pants stay up for final assembly.
- Then reach around and secure the back side to your belt loop.
We find that doing it the same way every day increases your chance of success and makes it easier over time as well.
How do I untangle my HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders if they get twisted?
Do you find your HIKERS® button fly suspenders are tangled some mornings? Here's the quick trick for straightening out your HIKERS®. Stretch out your HIKERS® and notice which end has the "open hands". Drop the strap from that same end into the open hands and straighten them out. You may need to do this twice on rare occasions, perhaps after a particularly rough night.
Are they washable?
Active guys may need to wash their HIKERS® Co. suspenders frequently. Our staff tends to launder theirs every month or so, on average.
Wash with like colors, and although you can toss them in the dryer, our suspenders won't last as long if you do. Removing the hooks is optional. For longevity, particularly with our Deluxe leather style, lay your suspenders flat to air dry.
I lost a hook. Now what?
Sorry to hear that happened. 9 times out of ten, your hook probably worked itself loose from the strap due to excessive friction, a fluke accident, or not being threaded properly. Or maybe it went missing in the laundry with your lost socks.
HIKERS® Co. Hooks & Hook Packs are available to purchase if you'd like to have some extras on hand, but if you lost yours and just want a replacement, we'd be happy to send you a free hook. Please contact support@hikersco.com, and we'll send you a freebie.
