What makes HIKERS® Co. suspenders unique?
HIKERS® Co. suspenders are unique because they're designed to wear invisibly under an untucked shirt — with no bulky hardware showing through the fabric. Each pair is made in your size and adjusts like a belt, and our proprietary hook attachments are engineered to stay secure and comfortable all day. Every purchase is backed by a 100% iron-clad guarantee and free size exchanges.
What is the difference between the HIKERS® and Upfitter® styles?
The main difference between HIKERS® and Upfitter® suspenders is how they attach to your pants.
HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders hook onto the front button of your pants or shorts and one center rear belt loop — they're designed to be worn as a hidden undergarment under an untucked shirt.
Upfitter® Belt Loop Suspenders attach to two front belt loops and one rear belt loop, which means they work equally well under or over your shirt, and they're a good fit for pants without a button fly. Both styles are made in your size and adjust like a belt using the hook on the rear strap.
How do I find my size?
To find your HIKERS® Co. size, measure from your center rear belt loop up and over your shoulder and down to your button fly. Match that measurement to our size chart. If you measure between two sizes, order the larger size. HIKERS® Co. suspenders tighten down one size per notch on the rear strap, so starting at the looser end gives you room to adjust.
What if I get the wrong size?
If your HIKERS® Co. suspenders don't feel right, try adjusting them before exchanging. Try them on over your clothes and start on the loosest setting (which is the stated size), so you have room to tighten as needed for different pant styles, loaded pockets, or as the elastic relaxes over time.
If they still feel wrong, size exchanges are free within 30 days — log into your account using your order email and tap Request Return, or contact us and we'll walk you through the process. If you already had to tighten all the way to the shortest notch to make them fit, exchange for 2 sizes smaller. Each notch on the rear strap equals one HIKERS® size, so an XL pair comes adjusted to XL and can tighten to Large or Medium.
Will they give me a wedgie?
Nope, HIKERS® Co. suspenders won't give you a wedgie when you order your correct size. There are two reasons: first, your stomach stops them from inching up, and second, every pair is made in your size and is adjustable, so the upward tension is Goldilocks-perfect. It also takes much less force to pull pants up than to cinch them on with a belt — so the pull is gentle to begin with.
Are they comfortable?
Yes, HIKERS® Co. suspenders are designed for all-day comfort. Because your pants are held up by gentle tension distributed evenly across your shoulders instead of a tight waistband, you can wear your pants looser — no more loosening your belt after dinner or unbuttoning your pants at the end of the day. To hear from real customers, read our verified Customer Reviews.
Won't they tear my belt loops?
No, HIKERS® Co. suspenders won't tear your belt loops. The straps stretch and distribute weight evenly around your body, so even with a phone, keys, and wallet in your pockets, there's less than a pound of pull on your belt loops — and each loop is held in place by two sewn seams.
We tested HIKERS® for a full year before launching and have since sold hundreds of thousands of pairs, and belt loop tearing isn't an issue we see.
How do I go to the bathroom? Do I have to disrobe?
No, you don't have to disrobe to use the bathroom. HIKERS® Co. suspenders stay in place under your shirt, so unhooking is about as quick as undoing a belt — much faster than traditional suspenders.
For standing, most guys don't unfasten them at all: just unbutton your pants and let HIKERS® hold them up while you do your business.
For sitting, the simplest approach is to unfasten only the rear hook so your suspenders slide forward as you sit. When you stand back up, reach behind your back to pull the hook down and refasten — and if the hook rides up while sitting and becomes hard to reach, grab the straps near your shoulders to slide them back into position.
What materials are your suspenders made with?
HIKERS® Co. suspenders are made from a blend of polyester, nylon, and rubber. The shoulder straps are silky-soft elastic, and the rear and buttonhole straps are made from Hypalon — a super-thin, ultra-tough, military-grade rubber.
Can I wear HIKERS® with snaps, slide closures, or elastic waistbands?
HIKERS® Co. suspenders work with snaps and slide closures only in our Upfitter® Belt Loop style, which attaches to your belt loops. The original HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders require a front button on your pants or shorts, so they won't work with snaps or slide closures. We're still working on a solution for pants with elastic waistbands — stay tuned.
Do you make them for kids?
Yes, HIKERS® Co. makes youth-sized suspenders for kids. Our youth sizes are perfect for kids who have trouble keeping their pants pulled up — just like the rest of us. You'll find youth sizing information on the product page.
Which HIKERS® Co. Suspenders Style is Right for You?
-
2-Point Button Fly Suspenders
Try HIKERS® Button Fly SuspendersIf you wear your shirts untucked and most of your pants have a button closure, our original 2-point button fly suspenders might be right for you. They attach to your button fly and rear belt loop, and theyʻre so comfy youʻll probably forget you have them on.
-
3-Point Belt Loop Suspenders
Try Upfitter® Belt Loop SuspendersWhen you need to tuck-in your shirts, our 3-point belt loop style is comfortable enough to wear hidden under an untucked shirt, or you can wear them on the outside like traditional suspenders. Plus, if you wear pants with slide or snap closures, these are for you.

Made in your Size - Adjust to Fit
Find your SizeAll styles are made to fit in your size and can be adjusted to fit by rethreading the rear hook. Every pair has 3 sizes on the strap. If you order a Large, for instance, the strap is adjusted to size Large when they arrive, but it may be tightened down to Medium or Small as well.

How should they fit and how do I adjust them?
HIKERS® Co. suspenders should fit with very slight tension distributed evenly across your shoulders — just enough to hold your pants in place. When they fit right, they feel similar to wearing overalls. Because it takes much less force to pull pants up than to cinch them on with a belt, you won't need to stretch them more than a few inches to attach them to your pants.
When you first get your HIKERS®, try them on and start with the rear strap on the loosest setting (which is the stated size). That gives you two notches of room to tighten as needed for different pant styles, weighted pockets, or as the elastic relaxes slightly over time. If you have to tighten all the way to the shortest notch just to make them fit, we recommend exchanging them for two sizes smaller — each notch on the strap equals one HIKERS® size, so an XL pair adjusts to XL, Large, or Medium.
To adjust rethread the rear hook to a tighter setting.

- With the HIKERS® Co. logo facing you, thread the strap into the first slot from the top, under the first bar, and back up through the second slot.
- Pull it through and thread it back down into the final slot, seating the strap's size hole onto the center post. Give the strap a good tug.
- If you're using the second or third size hole, thread the remainder of the strap up the back of the hook, under the top bar.
If your HIKERS® Co. suspenders are too small to adjust into a comfortable fit, log into your account with your order email to start a free size exchange.
What's the trick to getting the hooks on and off?
The trick to getting HIKERS® hooks on and off quickly is to pull your belt loop away from your body with your other hand — that creates a little tension on the loop and the hook slides right off. The same technique works for the front hooks on our Upfitter® Belt Loop style. With a little practice, it becomes second nature.
What's the best way to put them on?
The best way to put on HIKERS® Co. suspenders depends on the style.
For HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders, grab each end with the logo facing up and pull them over your head onto your shoulders. Tug the straps back and forth to confirm they're lying flat. Secure the front to your pants' front button first, then fasten your fly — that way your pants stay up while you finish. Then reach around and secure the back to your center rear belt loop.
For Upfitter® Belt Loop Suspenders, grab the two front hooks in one hand to keep the straps straight, put your head between them, and lay them flat against your shoulders. Tug to confirm they're flat. Secure the two front hooks to your front belt loops first — pants stay up — then reach around and hook the back to your rear belt loop. Doing it the same way every day makes the process easier over time.
How do I untangle my HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders if they get twisted?
To untangle your HIKERS® Button Fly Suspenders when they get twisted, stretch them out and find the end with the "open hands." Drop the strap from that same end into the open hands and pull them straight. On rare occasions — perhaps after a particularly rough night — you may need to repeat the process.
Are they washable?
Yes, HIKERS® Co. suspenders are machine washable. Active guys may need to wash theirs frequently — our staff tends to launder them about once a month, on average.
Wash with like colors. You can toss them in the dryer, but for longevity, lay them flat to air dry instead. Removing the hooks before washing is optional. Air drying is especially recommended for our Deluxe leather style.
I lost a hook. Now what?
If you've lost a HIKERS® hook, contact support@hikersco.com and we'll send you a free replacement. Most often, hooks work loose from the strap due to friction, a fluke accident, or improper threading. Sometimes they just go missing in the laundry with your lost socks. If you'd like to keep extras on hand, HIKERS® Co. Hooks & Hook Packs are also available to purchase.
